Nexium 24HR products are indicated for adults aged 18 and older. Children under the age of 18 should talk to a doctor before use. Consult to your doctor before using if you’re breast-feeding or pregnant.
In the morning, swallow one whole Nexium 24HR capsule with a glass of water before eating. Do not chew or crush Nexium 24HR capsules. Nexium 24HR capsules should be taken once a day, every day for a course of 14 days. It may take one to four days of treatment to experience the medication’s full effect. Do not use Nexium 24HR for longer than 14 days in a row unless your doctor has directed you to do so.
You may repeat a 14-day course every 4 months if needed. Do not take for more than 14 days or more often than every 4 months unless directed by a doctor. Refer to packaging for full directions.
Do not use Nexium 24HR if you are allergic to esomeprazole. Keep product out of reach of children. Seek immediate medical attention or contact Poison Control in case of overdose.
Do not use if you have:
- trouble or pain swallowing food, vomiting with blood, or bloody or black stools
- heartburn with light-headedness, sweating or dizziness
- chest pain or shoulder pain with shortness of breath; sweating; pain spreading to arms, neck or shoulders; or light-headedness
- frequent chest pain
These may be signs of a serious condition. See your doctor.
If you have any of the following, talk to your doctor before taking Nexium 24HR:
- heartburn for over 3 months. This may be a sign of a more serious condition
- frequent wheezing, particularly with heartburn
- unexplained weight loss
- nausea or vomiting
- stomach pain
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using Nexium 24HR if you are: taking a prescription drug. Acid reducers may interact with certain prescription drugs.
If you find that you need to take this product for longer than 14 days or that you need to take a course of treatment more frequently than once every four months, stop treatment and talk to your doctor. Consult to your doctor if your heartburn continues or worsens, you develop a rash or joint pain, or if you get diarrhea.
